Why yes, I’m for hire

It has been awesome to receive so many great emails from everyone. Thanks for all the interest, support, and encouragement. A common question is if I am available for web development/design, social media consulting, and or multimedia (photos/videos/etc..) work.  Why yes, yes I am.  Though I spend most of my time at the Texas capitol working for the Governor, I also own a small but nimble creative collective that provides world-class communications solutions. In a evolving world of communications, marketing and advertising, I apply the strongest tenets of intuitive design, the best features of Web 2.0 and a customer-driven approach that helps clients break away from the pack. Contact me if you would like to work together.

Slow news day…

Today will be a rather slow news day, until maybe later tonight. In the interest of clearing my mind a bit, I’ve decided to put the computer down and listen to some soulful 60’s music before my big panel interview which starts at 2:15 pst.

Catch everybody later on tonight.  Happy Monday.

So long sweet Sunday.

Please excused the brevity of this post.  Just finished an intense final round of Liar’s Dice with Dave. I’ll update more tomorrow, but must get some sleep at the moment. I’ve got to wake up for a 6am skype interview with NBC (North California Regional Broadcast).  Just wanted to post a great article by Heather Irwin from the Press Democrat. The article discusses the highlights of our chat.  http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20090719/ARTICLES/907199970?Title=Ready-to-Tweet-for-10-000-a-month

Goodnight All.  Next time I’ll call the 4 4’s in Liar’s Dice.

Vineyard tour, wine blending contest and nap time!

We have had a fantastic Sunday of touring the Terra a Lago vineyard, the source of Murphy-Goode’s delicious Terra a Lago Cabernet Sauvignon. Followed by a wine blending contest where @goodetobefirst took the prize.  I just finished uploading a few photos from today so take a look.  I’m taking a quick nap before pouring in the tasting room.  Anyone in the area feel free to come to the Murphy-Goode tasting room in Healdsburg. I would love to pour you a few free glasses between 3:30 - 5:00.  Thanks everyone for the support!

Video from Day 1

Hello Healdsburg

I have arrived in Healdsburg.  After meeting up with @goodetobefirst and @legendarychild in the San Francisco Airport we traveled to Healdsburg in stretch limo style.  We arrived in Healdsburg around 3:15 (pst) and I must say it is a lovely town.

imageWe were conveniently dropped off at the Murphy-Goode Tasting Room where I found a nice couple who happened to watching a familiar video. .  I introduced myself as Adam and chatted for a bit. Then I asked the question. “Ma’m, what did you think of that video?” “Seems like a nice young man”, she replies.. not making the connection that it was me. I decided to leave it that way and carry on.

imageAfter being greeted by some of the friendly folks at Murphy-Goode and receiving our gift bags, topped with this awesome viking hat… A few other goodies including a bottle of Murphy-Goode Chardonnay, personalized by Mr. Dave Ready himself. After browsing around the tasting room, we headed across the street to Hotel Healdsburg, probably the nicest hotel that I’ve visited in awhile.
Check out the room.

I plan on relaxing for a bit and then on to the first event. I believe plenty of wine will be had.  I apologize in advance for the grammar and tense changes. I’m heavily medicated, trying to conquer some sinus issues.
More details later. -Cheers, Adam

The time has come.

I remember when the first text message popped up. “Dude, have you heard about that wine job? I swear it is made for you!”  I’ll confess: my curiosity was piqued. Then followed several tweets, facebook wall posts, and emails throughout the next day.  After investigating the buzz, I decided that I was all in.  Soon after, I was writing video scripts on napkins during lunch, casting friends for the video, and buying more bottles of Murphy-Goode from the local wine store.

After a few rough days of filming, and by rough I mean drinking wine, kayaking, dancing, and coordinated group shouting, it was time to edit.  Watching all of the footage made me question… Do I really want to leave all of this behind?  I pulled up the Murphy-Goode website one more time for assurance and proceeded onto editing.

I launched the video the night before I left for a week long trip to Ireland.  Little did I know that I’d return to so the buzz of so many friends helping share my video.  This continued for over a month. I met new friends on Twitter, Facebook, received encouraging emails and even a few job opportunities.  I found myself immersing into everything #areallygoodejob. Lunch breaks were utilized for twitter searches, replying to facebook messages, and watching all of the creative videos that began to flood in.  CNBC, MSNBC, and ExpressNews articles were beginning surface online.. and wow, my video was up on the screen…. staring back at me.

Then the Top 50 was announced.  Whoaaa… There was my name.  Friends were emailing, phone was ringing, and my grandma asked me if she could come visit me in California. I warned her that her comment was a bit premature, but I realized that this could really happen.

A little more goes went by and the Top 10 announcement nears.  The night before the announcement, my roommates have to make me stop pacing in the living room.  Fast forward to around 2p.m. July 7th. I am eating a late lunch with my friend Stephen. Between bites of my sandwich I continue hitting refresh on my twitter feed and email inbox.

Nothing.

I refresh twitter and see that MurphyGoodeTv (Kam) has made it. Then Todd, Hardy, and Eric (all great guys that I’d became online friends with through this process).  I refresh my inbox one more time.

Still nothing.  Taking another bite of my sandwich, I have a moment of internal self sympathy. I refresh twitter one more time to see which of my new friends have made it, and see a tweet from Winetonite. My name is there.

I check gmail one more time and see the Top 10 email, choking on the last bite of my sandwich with excitement.

The past 2 weeks have been a blur of client projects, work travels, friends’ weddings, and witty banter among all of the Top 10 Candidates.  Two nights ago, I tossed and turned for hours in anxious anticipation of this weekend.  I decided a few tweets, blog posts, and facebook updates wouldn’t do this upcoming 4 day adventure justice.  I sketched out a quick site wireframe on a piece of paper and turned to Photoshop, my digital weapon of choice since 1997.  I tried to organize all of the thoughts going through my head into a simple but representative design.

Next thing I know, it is 4am, work is in a few hours and I’m shopping for domain names.

I figure I’ll stick with the reallygoode_____ theme.

areallygoodtime.com…  nah,  sounds shady.  areallygoodeadventure.com… nope, too Swiss Family Robinson.  areallygoodetrip.com.  Booyah! That’ll work.

I spent last night deliriously coding this and here we are.  I realized that I’m happiest in life whenever there is some type of spontaneious road-trip, dance party, family dinner, or excursion with my closest family and friends.  I spend a lot of time behind the camera, living life through the lens in my attempt to capture the current moment and share it with others.  I’m looking forward to doing just that this weekend, and hopefully, if I’m lucky enough, for the next 6 months.

I hope you’ll be with me very step of the way.  Come back tomorrow and check for updates.

-Adam (Applicant #546)
